Valve's steel and aluminum chassis measures just over 12 inches on a side and is 2.9 inches tall, making it a little bigger than an Xbox 360 and smaller than any gaming PC of its ilk. And yet the box manages to fit a giant Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan graphics card and a full desktop CPU — and keep those parts quiet and cool — without cramming them in like a jigsaw puzzle.
Looks nice AND it's a steel + aluminum case, whereas some PC cases are plastic + aluminum and consoles are hard plastic for the most part, and it's only just a little bit bigger than the Xbox 360. And with in that tiny box, they're able to fit in an Nvidia Titan (on the super high-end configuration) and a regular desktop CPU.
Looks like a nice little machine to me. Don't think I'll get one though since I already have a gaming PC.

NO not another VHS player...
this looks really cool and sounds promising
-
Hey look a metal xbox one.
-
That's pretty impressive. If they actually manage to pull this off, I can see the Steambox becoming a major competitor in the console market .
-
Edited by iGraviton: 11/4/2013 10:13:58 PMI'm still amazed they managed to fit a full-size, stock Titan in there. EDIT: If Valve releases that case for the normal consumer, I would worship Gaben even more than I currently worship him.

A.K.A. The console killer. Look at that sexy beast and sporting a Titan?!?! Xbox One or PS4 could not hope to even come close to its power. With it being Steam OS Native, Native games (first party console, halo, kill one, etc.) Will run better than any console exclusive. Gaben, thank you for giving us this to kick off the final generation of consoles.
-
Does it run on steam?
-
That is one sexy beast of a machine
-
I don't get what people find appealing about the look it is a box. they are all just boxes.

Edited by I Am The Guitar: 11/4/2013 10:15:49 PMWhat is that abomination in the top left?! Looks like the 360 and Wii controller had a deformed child.
-
Looks shit. Could they make it more square please? I don't think I can quite slit my wrists on those corners yet.
-
reading through the article to find a price, if this thing doesn't cost that much I might buy it.
-
It looks purdy, but I'll probably just get a PC.
-
dat label
-
Ooooh pretty. Our lord Gaben has outdone himself.
-
Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 11/4/2013 10:23:31 PMLooks like a projector. But holy shit does that look sexy as fuck. The Titan fits in there so perfectly. It's not some bizarre custom-made un-upgradeable GPU designed to fit the form factor, but a legit, honest-to-god Titan in a case built around it. The Steam Machine totally looks upgradeable, and I am glad.
-
Man, that looks sek-say
-
For some reason, I always expected this to cost a little more than consoles. Boy do I feel derp.
-
Ha, I wonder how much the Titan version will cost.
-
She's a beaut.
-
I suppose its nice if you want a console with PC equivalent power, without having to deal with the hassle of building a PC.
