It's a very short read but, basically analysts are suggesting that the video game industry is projected to surpass Hollywood in global profitability.
I have to admit, I'm a little surprised by this news. With what I had seen as all these studios being absorbed and shut down, I felt as though the gaming industry was in a rough patch. I suppose it's actually more of an issue that game development is a very tough (yet rewarding) business if you can manage it. We spoke with our wallets, and the industry will follow suit...
Maybe we won't just be seeing more video games adapted into movies in the future, but better ones as well!
Thoughts?

Edited by M37h3w3: 11/7/2013 7:32:41 PMI'm not surprised given how most of what Hollywood just pushes out is mass produced shit-tier fast food type movies. Combined with the growing cost and trickery that goes on at theaters of just seeing a movie ($10 to see a movie now and half the show times are for gimmicky shit 3D movies so either pony up an extra five bucks or go -blam!- off for an hour) it's getting to the point of "Why -blam!-ing bother? I'll just rent it on Redbox in six months."

The video game industry is becoming steadily more like Hollywood anyway, in that they both now have ridiculously inflated development costs and, as such, are afraid to take innovative risks.
