This fellow seems to think so, and I agree. It's not just that the modern setting is getting extremely tired, it was just never very interesting to begin with.
World War II actually happened. It's edifying to play games set in that era, it's feeding my curiosity about the world.
What do I get from Modern Warfare and Ghosts? Explosions and batshit situations. And dogs and fish. None of these is interesting to me (although 4 was pretty damn slick), and I loathe that millions of braindead explosion junkies now dictate the course of a once-beloved historical series.

Edited by sims3k: 11/11/2013 12:49:52 PMI always hated WW2 shooters, theres no creativity with them when it comes to story. There isnt much creativity nowadays with modern shooters too but its still better than WW2. Almost every WW2 shooter included Normandy beach at some point. The fact that WW2 shooters always make levels based on actual wars is not fun or interesting imo. I already know the history, i know whats going to happen and how. I dont need a game to recreate it for me.

Cod 3 was alright but I never got hooked to the game.

Call of Duty 2 is the best CoD and it's one of the best games I have ever played.

Call of Duty 2 is, to this day, one of my all time favorite video games. It had everything you could ask for. It chose great people to follow for the stories, there were varied segments, fantastic level design, great voicing, and the best CoD multiplayer to date.

I got tired of WWII games after the 500th WWII game released... CoD 4 was probably my favorite of them all.

CoD 2: Big Red One and CoD 3 were absolutely fantastic, and for the time CoD 4 was great as well....but now, the theme is getting stale.
