Microsoft has done it again, it pushed out a product that was not ready. The XBox One is a good system, as long as you got a working version, and don't have the day I did yesterday. Wonder if I can bill Microsoft for the frustration I dealt with yesterday?
Hour 1.
Get the XBox One from GameStop and plug it and put it next to my old XBox 360 (Slim Edition)
Start it up, Green Screen... Freezes
Reboot, Green Screen...Freezes...
Reboot.... Get to the controller picture and tells me to push A.
Push A... Freezes....
Reboot... Green Screen....
Reboot... Tells me to push A.
Push A... Freezes....
Unplug the damned thing while cursing....
Tells me to Push A.
Goes through Registration.
Update System.
Reboot.
Black Screen of Death. Error: E305 0000001 80073CFE
Ask for a Callback from Microsoft XBox One Support. 3 Hour wait time.
Hour 2
Reboot multiple times, no fix.
Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in.
System wants me to register again.
I register.
System updates again, looks as if the system never took, continues at 71%.
Finishes.
Reboots.
Get to Console Screen.
Looks like Windows 8...inwardly cringes and looks for a way to switch it back to the old XBox 360 format, no chance.
Spend the rest of the hour figuring out where everything is.
Hour 3
Put in first game, something mind numbing just a generic hack and slash, Ryse.
Microsoft calls back.
State I don't need their help any more.
End calls, play game.
Hour 4
See friends online, after realizing that there is no real notification system any more that shows friends online on the upper right.
Notice there are two messages for me.
Can't listen, because they were made in the Xbox 360. Have to log into my 360 to do so.
Attempt to start party chat.
No one comes.
Friend calls me and tells me they sent me a party invite, I never got it.
He sends me a system message text only.
I get it.
Find out I can't send voice messages, even though my Mic looks to work.
BTW cheap ass mic from Microsoft, can talk, but can't have game go through headset.
Put a request tech call from MS Xbox One Support Again.
60 minute wait.
Play game and chat with friend on phone for a little, hang up and play game again.
Hour 7
Microsoft calls back.
Pause Game.
Tell them the situation, stump tech.
Continue call.
Hour 8
Still on with tech.
Has put me on hold multiple times.
Finally comes out and says, "It's a Known Issue."
Ask when it will be fixed.
No ETA.
Thank him, and hang up.
Hour 9-17
Imagining enemies as Steve Balmer and the rest of the Xbox One Communication Development Team...
Beat game with ease.
Realize that spending 500+ on a game console wasn't worth it.
Put in Application for Microsoft to be a Q&A specialist, because hell it seems the average person out side of the Microsoft Campus can do a better job Q&A than they can...
Go to bed.

Sucks to suck dick then. Never get a first-day console.
