The short answer is yes. If this game is as promising as it looks, then I believe a lot of good, competitive players from halo will make the switch to destiny, causing a new dark age for all the thumbless players with no hand-eye coordination. Muahahaahhaaa
Prepare yourselves.

An FPS is an FPS is an FPS...

I'm guessing the best CoD players will be better than the best Halo players. It looks like the kill times in Destiny are going to be much closer to CoD than Halo.
-
The most good halo players that are still playing won't switch the game. I mean halo got advanced competitive settings and maps no game is that balanced at its launch. Also all the good players that still play halo love the fact that you need some time/shots to kill your opponent and that won't be in destiny.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 12/26/2013 1:44:20 PMDoubtful. - Diehard Halo fans will be slow to embrace Destiny's heavy RPG and fantasy elements and will go back to playing Halo 3 lan-parties till their dying days. semi-joking ;) - A new community of players will thrive in Destiny and the game will foster new gamers that embrace Destiny mechanics. New faces, new "pros", new heroes. - In the end you'll have a new Bungie community made up of old "vets" that adapt to the changes alongside new competitive players "born" in Destiny. - The end result will be a good mix of both. Sort of a FPS melting pot of gamers. Anyone who honestly thinks the entire Halo community will simply copy/paste into Destiny is fooling themselves. There will be earlier adopters, sure. But there will also be those who refuse to step away from Halo... both literally and ideologically. Which is fine. It gives everyone the opportunity to find a "home" in Destiny.

They will play it for a week and then say it's garbage because of all the different weapons and supers. MLG will get a hold of it and ruin it by taking away supers and make everyone use the same pulse rifle, sniper and rocket launcher.
-
I wanna see MLG Destiny!! *bungietakeover*
-
There's still competitive Halo players?
-
Prolly not, different game.
-
If it's worth playing I'll be in there.
-
The veterans will obviously do well... But there are others out there who will certainly keep the pace if they jump in... Like me. :) Ill be a lil rusty at first........ At first.
-
CoD pros might even have a chance with this game, due to the potentially quicker combat. #Opinion. :P
-
Yes. I am confident that the Halo competitive pros (like me ;D) will do very well.

I would like to see destiny's pvp really take off but its a huge wait and see. You'll see a lot of the best halo players making quick work of progressing through the game
-
well i know who will dominate destiny on the ps4.
my clan
-
My body is ready to stick its feet up several asses.
-
Nope. Worse. The best multiplayer COD players will rule destiny.
-
Yes i plan to do just this.
-
If they can't they will just blame the game.
-
Being a halo veteran will probably mean little for the new players that will join in on Destiny, its gonna be a hella fun stomping them though. Be prepared for my guild will crush you all to the ground in epic battle! Summer will be the time see you guys there!

Edited by DEZARATH: 12/26/2013 2:35:44 AMThey'll kill the use of the mic as usual.
-
nah, people who excel in cod and halo are. (the kjilltimes and abilities make it seem like a cross between halo and COD in terms of gameplay)
-
Kill times are much shorter so its going to play quite different to Halo.
-
No, because they likely won't be playing it.

Question: Screw you, I have the answer. Nice thread, ahahaha. Essentially, yes, skill transfers pretty good from game to game. Skilled players are good because they are smart, they understand game mechanics, can devise strategies which utilize game mechanics. They learn the maps and understand where to position themselves to have cover and great lines of sight. On top of that, they have good hand/eye co-ordination, which helps land those headshots. However, this game is much different from Halo. People who play a lot of campaign (usually not the pro PvP people) will get access to things those who stay in multi-player don't. People who do those big raids are going to get weapons that may add a distinct advantage over those who don't play campaign. A piece of armour that gives you more health, a weapon that does more damage or makes you invisible, etc. If pro players are going to stick to PvP, they are going to get a surprise when they find out they're limiting themselves to certain weapons/armour/focuses, etc. So for that reason, I think a lot of pro players will be handi-capping themselves.

not quite, as they use reticules instead of ADS, we'll see later
