Sharing one idea or concept doesn't mean they're copying. Even two or three similar ideas isn't mimicking. I think if everyone kept EVA and Pacific Rim separate in terms of comparing them to each other they'd be able to enjoy PR a lot more. In my experience, many are maliciously looking for ways to call PR a rip off. I love both myself and think they were fantastically presented and are dramatically different. Each with their own neat ideas.
