2 "Knockout" attacks may be linked: Dallas Police

Oh look, more thugs punching old people for fun. Dallas police said an elderly man was attacked outside a restaurant early Friday morning, and it's possible the attack is linked to a recent beating outside a Campisi's. Charles Pace, 74, was walking into the Denny's in the 4400 block of North Central Expressway when he was attacked. Pace's property wasn't taken. Police found Pace lying on the ground outside the Denny's with cuts to his face and hands. He didn't want to be taken to a hospital, so police drove him home. Dallas police said Friday the Denny's attack has several similarities to a recent attack outside a Campisi's on Mockingbird Lane. A 69-year-old man, Luis Rocha, was attacked and beaten so severely that he remains hospitalized. An anonymous donor has increased the reward for information in that case to $20,000. The Campisi's and Denny's where the attacks took place are only about a mile-and-a-half apart. Police said both cases involved elderly men by themselves going to restaurants. Police believe there were three attackers in both cases. People with information are asked to contact Dallas police. "We need the public's assistance," said Maj. Jeff Cotner with the Dallas Police Department. "We've had these individuals victimized. Someone is out there committing these crimes. They're doing it with malice and forethought and victimizing these people, and we need their help." Police are canvassing nearby businesses, looking at their surveillance videos, and they've also stepped up patrols in the area.
