The real reason I downloaded it is for youtube. Anyone without adblock will know as well as I do just how annoying the ads are that pop up 5 seconds into the video. I clicked "play" not "activate fade-in advert." Almost every video I watch there's a key part of the visual happening under the goddamned advert!
What a great piece of software they have going on. Coupled with ghostery (a tracking script blocker) It's amazing just how much crap is added to webpages. Have a look at the linked page with ghostery active.

If google are so good at targeted advertising, why not do something about the statistic that every advert that I get I simply close? If I literally close every advert, why is this trend not acted upon? Irrelevant now I guess. GO ADBLOCK!
Even here on Bungie those annoying social media buttons that pop up, get in the way, but don't pop down have gone.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other privacy tools?

Yeah, screw those ads! Screw the people who make videos for a living and rely on those ad views as income!

I honestly don't see how Google, a multibillion dollar industry "needs" advertisements to help run Youtube when Youtube's original creator was just fine without it. Maybe if Google learned that no one likes their shitty updates they'll learn they don't need to keep dumping more money than what is necessary in order for Youtube to run.

I'll be downloading it once I get my PC

NoScript and Better Privacy. ghostery seems pretty useless if you're already blocking all scripts except allowed ones.
-
I actually downloaded it last night because putlocker get spamming me with pop-ups during Lone Survivor. It's really nice.

I feel like this thread could be turned into an Ad

I have ad block not just because of YouTube, but because ads in general screw up your browser to a pretty big degree.
-
my music playlists would be fuq'd if i didnt have adblock.

Adblock is god-tier software, it's also very simple. I'm not overly concerned about privacy, Google knows everything about me, as does Amazon. I use the Lightbeam addon for Firefox to see how websites I use are connected, it's awesome!

May just be me (I havent actually read the comments ITT), but I use adblock for everything except youtube. The youtubers I watch make some sort of money off of the ads (right?), so I wont be taking that away from them.

B.net dark gets rid of those irritating facebook buttons below each post. I just got so sick of adverts being hidden in the recommended video section that I snapped and installed it. I've enjoyed a spam free, less risky (Viruses) and pleasant time on the internet ever since. It pissed me off that google's ads seemed to be 50/50 on links to malware. So yeah, they either need to clean up their act or they will remain blocked :D

I support adblock because there are much better ways of displaying ads for youtube. Almost every other website does just fine with banners, but no. They have to have ads that actually disturb your viewing. That's why I have adblock. Not for banner ads, but for pop-ups and pre-roll ads on youtube.

Same. The only reason I have it is so that ads don't run while I'm listening to a playlist.

Edited by BrenMan 94: 1/21/2014 8:50:47 PMAll of the ads Google throws at me are deals on music gear, so I don't have a problem with them (I have ads enabled on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com and Blip.tv).
