I am relatively new to these forums, but I am quite amuzed at what some people post on a video game forum. Has it always been like this?

Here's some advice from a thread I made a couple of months ago.
1. Don't ask what it is if you don't get it, just google it. 2. Blame Stosh 3. IT'S RENDER'S FAULT 4. Try xbox.com 5. Ask Clockman 6. K8 will help you 7. Tell Shiska that he's a pegboy 8. John Cena 9. Toast/envelope to talk to girls. 10. Find a dog on your porch 11. Declare/wage forum wars 12. Get the entire community to vote in a homemade Ghost into a Red Bull event. 13. Have a ninja meet your mother at a bar and get her to "let the puppies out of the pen" 14. Ban yourself for honorable reasons 15. Create an enormous thread about slender man 16. Do a weekly/monthly examination of popular internet myths and then leave the thread to die after it becomes very successful and a lot of people enjoy reading it. 17. Use the letter K as a frequent response to a post. 18. Don't ask how to bypass the swear filter, just use an alt character. 19. Erotic literature is k, but the second you post a mildly suggestive picture you're banned. 20. Cheerios is your favorite cereal. NO EXCEPTIONS! 21. Don't argue with Camnator, he'll poop on the chess board. 22. Don't let Verbatim kill himself. 23. The Flood will never have a Queen, because there are no girls on the Internet. 24. If you get banned, just meet Achronos and Recon in a motel. 25. You don't ask to become a ninja, you just slut shame the current ones and kiss Achronos' ass.
When you say relatively new, are we talking b.next new, or back when b.net was good and coup worked?

Edited by Recon Number 54: 1/22/2014 3:57:36 PMI believe that the AMA topics are a sign that people are beginning to both establish and recognize other members and the persona that they have built over time. An AMA is also a way to further build that persona for those who might be curious or interested in the person behind the avatar. As far as being amazed (and probably amused) at what people post on a video game forum, this tag sorts of #offtopic items and that means just about anything (within reasonable limits). The forums here on Bungie.Net have never really been a "video game forum", sure there were forums (and now tags) that are dedicated to specific games and even gaming in general, but since it first came online, this site has been (and continues to be IMO) a "fan community" site where our hosts have understood that fans of their company, fans of the games, and people who just fit a particular personality and mindset would benefit from a place where they can come and socialize. #offtopic more so than other tags.

popularity thread uses disguise! It’s Super Effective!

Not always. Why, I remember when trolling wasn't cool. When I was a wee lad, we had glorious troll hunters. Now that our men have lost moral and responsibility, the are no more great troll hunters, leaving trolls to grow in number, dramatically.

Edited by Psy: 1/21/2014 10:55:54 PMWell... People post a lot of things that interest them in the offtopic area and video game discussion now goes in #gaming. It's hard to say what each person likes to post, the best way to find out is to stick around and you'll soon stick names to avatars and threads. Edit: You've been here 2 years though...

Off topic is the key word bro. You wanna talk about gaming go to #gaming.
-
Well the video game part is what #gaming is for.
