So I'm creating a game inspired by Super Meat Boy and Super Mario World where it has fast paced platforming mechanics and responsive controls with level design that is short and challenging but without being frustrating.
I've started the level designs and concept art, and I plan on starting a kickstarter in a week, but I was just trying to get an initial reaction for a game like this.
I have the story completely written out and I was going to go for a Risk of Rain pixel art style with it. The story and art style are actually really important to the game in terms of theme and premise, along with the character design, but I'll not discuss it just to get the reaction about the gameplay itself.
So yeah guys, just tell me what you think about it and tell me if you would spend $10 on a game like this. Also, what would you want to see from a platformer like this?
EDIT: I added a rough sketch of one of the first levels I designed. It shows what I want to do with the obstacles and jumps and the type of platforming I'm looking to do. The only difference between that sketch and the actual game is that I want to shorten the length of the levels. I don't plan on putting check points so making shorter levels will reduce the frustration.

I like games like that. What your suggesting really reminds me of N+ on DS that was tons of fun

Sounds interesting but I'd need to see some gameplay, even pre alpha, before pledging anything on kickstarter

Sounds interesting, be sure to post your Kickstarter here when it's up. I'll definitely back you if your project has promise.

I need to see gameplay or concept art.

Probably but I would need to see some gameplay so I could come up with my final decision.

I would definitely buy it, would want some gameplay footage before I kickstarted it.
-
I would pay $10 for that. I love platformers.
-
I already bought Super Meat Boy and 'Splosion Man and Trials HD and Ms. 'Splosion Man and Trials Evolution, so yes. :D
-
I would, but I don't have time right now thanks to college.

Sounds good, what platforms you thinking about?
