After reading this article I was a bit surprised to see that women made up most of the business accepted by the company mentioned. For me, it brought up an interesting thought; are women more spiteful than men?
Now everyone can hold grudges, but to going to the point of hiring a company to get back at an ex-lover seems a bit drastic. Personally, I'm not sure that women would be more spiteful than men. I think it's more a matter of how each sex goes about handling the issue and women might be quicker to enlist help.
Either way, revenge of this sort has bad written all over it for me and I'd rather forgive and forget. Best to stay away from anything that might cause a situation later on.

Both can be spiteful or vindictive but from what I have seen (as in, the real world - first hand) is that Spitefullness is the tool of choice for women. I've only known one guy to do something truly spiteful and he was a complete piece of shit. So from what I have seen, I would say Women tend to be more spiteful and Men tend to be upfront if they have a problem with someone. Usually a fight happens or something like that if two guys have a grudge to settle but yeah. That article is pretty damn interesting, I was glad to see that the people running that business refused certain requests. I'd hate to think there was a 'Screw someone's life up' button to press just out of the blue.
