In the end, eight Enloe students, all 16 to 17 years old, along with a parent, were arrested following events related to the water balloon fight.
In North Carolina, being arrested as a teenager has enormous consequences. It’s one of two states in the country that considers 16- and 17-year-olds to be adults when they are charged with a criminal offense and then denies them the chance to appeal for return to the juvenile system. The law means that misdemeanor charges stick on your permanent record.
Basically, NC won't let you get away with shit after 16, even if it's a stupid water ballon fight.
Also, I thought it was funny how the title of the article was really dramatic, but the story was a bit lame. Nonetheless, ya'll get a look into my life here, so read up about the cluster-blam!- that is the Wake Country Public School System, bc that shit is messy.

Damn, as a 16 year old NC citizen, this makes me very unhappy.

I miss the good old days, when kids got into a fight, they would just get detention and learn their lesson. Now if kids got into a fight, the school might as well call the SWAT team, honestly this over protective shit is getting out of hand.

>NC/SC not surprised

So apparently the US courts are more lenient on teenage rapists than it is on kids that throw water balloons. Good to know.

I've been saying this quite often the whole school system is turning into prisons with words like 'lockdowns', 'metal detectors' and them always blowing out of proportion the stupidest stuff. I just can't help but laugh when I see stories about like 8 year old kids getting expelled because they were playing cops and robbers and one of them made a gun symbol with their hands .... they are kids and now they can't be anymore. When i was in school making shapes with your hand like a gun was normal and people didn't freak out like idiots. Some schools even have banned physical contact with one another ... so stupid.

Oh NC.
