The word butterfly makes not sense at all. It's not butt ugly like a fly, nor has it anything to do with butter.
Think on this.
English
-
It flies lightly and sweetly, like how butter compliments food
-
Still, imho Featherflutter is much more fitting. However, it's not very cool to suggest that name as a dude.
-
Why are people not just called "big pipe going from mouth to butt plus stuff"?
-
Because 'people' saves a lot of ink
-
Then please explain the word Lopadotemachoselachogaleokranioleipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilphioparaomelitokatakechymenokichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptekephalliokigklopeleiolagoiosiraiobaphetraganopterygon

Greeks had an abundance of ink the likes of which have never been seen since?

Edited by Qwerty: 1/25/2014 2:13:28 AMThat explains mythology, but not why their exists the longest word in recorded history to mean 'a dish made of lower class seafood and flowers'
-
Even we can't say that in a very short way. At least they have one single word for it. Does English have a short version of a word with that meaning
-
Yeah, Food...or Grub if you prefer
-
Food doesn't really imply just cheap seafood and flowers ... But that's just my perspective
-
Neither does Lopadotemachoselachogaleokranioleipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilphioparaomelitokatakechymenokichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptekephalliokigklopeleiolagoiosiraiobaphetraganopterygon

Actually, all the components are there if you translate it. But I guess it is cheating, Greeks have a system for overdefining words. For example, in (ancient) Greek, one could use one word for the concept of "throwing up on another man from above downward coming from the mouth".
-
Yup...too bad the Greeks still lost in the end....lol
