I know I have mentioned this in a previous post a while back, but does anyone have any info on whether Bungie have been playing around with the new dev kits from Oculus?
The unveil at CES for the new prototype has only fuelled my desire for Oculus implementation for Destiny more! Because we all know how amazing and more immersive the experience will be.

The low persistence feature (basically makes motion more life-like and reduces blur) requires about 90 frames per second I think (so that the strobing effect is imperceptible). VR games also have to be rendered in stereoscopic 3D at a minimum of 1080p which requires more processing power. These are all requirements for virtual reality to work well. Meanwhile, on Xbox One for example, you have games that won't even run natively at 1080p and are capped at 30 FPS. A beautifully crafted and rendered game like Destiny will not run at 90+FPS/3D-1080p on a PS4. It's possible that less intensive game could work on consoles with VR's requirements (you can run a lot of Oculus demos on a mobile), but they obviously wouldn't look as beautiful as Destiny. I doubt you'll see many console developers willing to sacrifice photorealism in exchange for better performance. We've already seen plenty of games, especially on Xbox, that don't seem to give a damn about resolution so long as it looks pretty. I plan to get (and am looking forward to) both the Oculus Rift and Destiny. But I doubt we'll see their two paths cross soon. Btw I have spent many hours playing with the Dev Kit (just played some Half Life 2 in VR just now) and yes, it's amazing. I can't wait for the final version, it has made me rather apathetic toward the PS4 and Xbone (except for Destiny of course, and maybe The Division).
