In Destiny, all we know is that the Hunter knife exists as a melee option, and it can be thrown. All we know about swords is that DeeJ made some remark making it sound like they were a thing... And then he got yelled at for doing so. He either was yelled at for giving a false impression of the game's awesomeness or for spoiling an awesome surprise we could have had. In other words, we know nothing.
