If you do not want a weapon or armor piece, could you give it to another player?

There's a vid on YouTube by this guy named David on DestinyUpdates that I think said that each player gets his or her own loot so I don't think you can but maybe because we will only know if some one like Deej says so or not but maybe

Each player will have his own loot stream, but so far the ability to drop an item of loot for another player to pick up or simply trade hasn't been denied.
