OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Deputies say a man shot and wounded an intruder Tuesday night inside his Thurston County home.
The man and his wife returned to their home, located in a rural area north of Olympia, at about 9:15 p.m. and heard a noise coming from the second floor, according to Greg Elwin of the Thurston County sheriff's office.
Elwin said the 63-year-old man armed himself with a gun and went upstairs to investigate. When he walked upstairs, the man saw a stranger carrying an armful of the homeowner's property.
Elwin said the burglar and the homeowner began to scuffle, and the homeowner ended up shooting the burglar in the leg.
The homeowner called 911 and the burglar -- a 27-year-old man -- was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
He was later taken to Harborview Medical Center for surgery.
Detectives are investigating the shooting.

A similar thing happened in my city recently, and I've read that the current district attorney is actually prosecuting the defender for some stupid reason.
