A lapse in logic.
I constantly see something along the lines of "cut military spending and increase education in the US". The problem: military is funded by the federal government, schools are funded by state and local governments. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the federal government isn't responsible for funding schools.

It is. However, federal school budget is incredibly tiny. Thus an increase is warranted.
