Pro-tip: Spam the hell out of Air Raid. On normal mode it does ridiculous amounts of damage and if you have the items to spare, use a Devil star or two and a few Holy Waters.

Also, it may not seem like it since it's not an RPG, but DMC does require a bit of grinding at some points and the best way imo is to keep fighting Phantom when he appears at the hallway cutscene. Another good way later down the road is to keep entering an area that has Nobodies as they offer more orbs than any other enemy. DMC2 has the best and easist money grinding method I've ever seen. As for DMC3 I always replayed mission 3. There's most likely a better method for the early parts of the game, but I don't know of it so I stick with mission 3. However, once you beat the game and move on to higher difficulties, the best way is to keep fighting the last boss on normal, but you have to S rank it (which isn't hard). Hope all that helps.
