Fuck this game, only thing I can really think to say. I want to like it, it seems really interesting but the amount of difficulty really makes it hard to enjoy...I like a challenge, but this is some pretty steamy bullshit right here.
So, anyone else play this game? What're your feelings on it?
And don't bother telling me to post this in #Gaming, either someone else can move it or it stays here.

sorry couldn't resist

Edited by We are Geth: 2/17/2014 6:02:04 AMIt's not too difficult, however it does punish common behaviors. If you're not patient, you'll get rekt. If you don't remember mistakes, you'll get rekt. If you don't adjust for those mistakes, you'll get rekt. Super simple stuff. Not only does it get easier once you realize these things, but it gets even easier once you've played through once or twice. It's amazing just how many things you struggle with on the first playthrough, seem so trivial in the next. I've done plenty of playthroughs, and I love this game. I'm extremely excited for Dark Souls II.

Absolutely one of the greatest games I have ever played. Getting into it is tough, but once you do it is the most rewarding game you've ever played.
-
One of my favorite games because of difficulty.. Can t wait for Dark Souls 2.
-
One of the best games I played in the last 10 years. Get good and stick through it, you'll be extremely glad when you do.
-
I couldn't get past the ghosts and skeletons in that damn castle looking place. I said -blam!- it. Never touched it again.
-
You grow to like it. Just be patient.

I love this game. Im still playing it now, well for PC now. The lore is great as well in Dark Souls however the storyline is a self-feeding type of thing. So try your best to listen to every NPC to know wants going on. Patience is your best friend in this game. Have fun!

Edited by Trevelyan: 2/17/2014 2:07:33 PMThe game is insanely easy once you know how to enemies and bosses fight and behave.

Wut r u casul?

I play plenty on Xbox (I don't think DS is exclusive, is it?). The thing is to always keep your eyes and ears open. Take a few runs through an area. Learn what is where, and who does what. And play defensively. The biggest mistake people make is to rush in. The punishment for being hasty is death as I'm sure you know. Hit me up, the GT is exactly the same as my username. I'll cover your back when you need a summon.

How many TVs have you broken so far?

It'll take a few hours of getting your ass kicked but once you learn some of the enemies' attack patterns and a move set that you are comfortable with the while game will open up to you. Btw you are going to die a ton before this happens

Take it slow. If you aren't good at dodging bring a good shield. Make sure its stats are good and is a medium metal shield so it blocks 100% physical. Block their attack first, make sure you target people, read a walkthrough to make sure you are going the low level path, avoid the powerful enemies first playthough like the black knights, and make sure if you are using a regular weapon you immediately level it up to +5 as soon as you reach the first blacksmith. Grind if you have too to get the mats. On your way down to the sewers make sure you get the large ember look it up if you have too. Find a creature that drops large shards and grind them before you go too deep i think the slime guys that drop off the celing may and get a +10 weapon. If they don't grind the leeches in the poison swamp and take the shortcut elevator up and out back to the start. I'm obsessed with improving my characters and in this game its necessary to take the extra time even more so if you aren't accustomed to high difficulty games.

That game is all about trial and error, as well as patience. OT: I enjoy it quite a bit. I'm pretty excited for the sequel.

People exaggerate the difficulty. One of my favorite games of all time.

How far did you get?
-
I got it a little more than a week ago, just beat it the other day. I love it. It pisses me off like no other game ever has, but I love the lore to it. Can't wait for the sequel.

Roll. Always.

I know this is rare but I hate a challenge. Games that require skill are fine and I love them but games that require tons of effort to even do well at all just aren't what I like. My favorite games are ones where I almost always do well and hold my own. I don't mean I dominate the server but I break even at least in a shooter game or I place in a racing game; things like that. Games that I'm on the bottom of the totem pole on are just infuriating to me. I'll stick around to learn the game but if it's going to take much longer than picking up something as advanced as a card game (magic, etc.) count me out.

It seems like a game I'd love, but unfortunately I have too much of a... rage quitting habit... shall we say <.< To put it mildly anyways. A game like Dark Souls would probably put my blood pressure high enough to give the doctor a stress headache.

I have the game but lost interest in it really fast.
