Where do you think bungie got the alien species ides?
Fallen - elites (halo)
Hive - Tyranids (warhammer 40k)
Vex - don't know
Cabal - Brutes (halo)
that's just what I think but post some of your suggestions

The Fallen are pirates, while the Elites were a Sparta-esque society of honorable warriors. The Cabal are a very organized and professional (for lack of a better word) military, while the Brutes were of a clan-based society.
