Hello everyone.
Now this is just some thoughts/concerns I have about Destiny. so far the premise of this game does sound incredible, travelling from planet to planet, racing across the landscape on your swoop bike thingy. exploring said planets and getting cool and awesome looking gear and weapons.. but here´s where my concerns start to show it´s annoying Little head.
1.
1st person shooter, now I dont mind fps games but when Bungie keeps "hyping" the game with Words like exploration and customization, I feel limited in a sense of you get or at least I feel that when it comes to exploration you get a bit more overview in 3rd person then in 1st person but that is just my opinion. therefore it would be cool if you could switch between viewmodes like explore you go in 3rd and when combat you can click L3 or R3 and switch to 1st person view and when you are done you switch back or for those WHO prefere either viewmode can just keep it in whatever mode they like.
Then there´s the customizations, now what good is it, to have cool looking gear if you can only view yourself in some small inventory window. I´m one of those WHO like to see the character I´m playing... (Tomb Raider, Uncharted, The Witcher, Guild Wars2) you get the idea right :)
No matter how much you "try" all you get in 1st person is the weapon you´re holding and mostly during reload animations you get a quick glimps at your arms. now sure its assuring when others are complimenting you " Hey cool helmet or nice shoulder armor you got there"
and all you can do is say thanks cuz you can´t really see it yourself unless you pause and enter your inventory menu and even there, I doubt one´ll be able to inspect it in a skyrim like way, where you can twist and turn it upside Down ( would be cool and awesome but I doubt it)
and another reason I´m hoping for a 3rd person mode is simply you get a far better feel of depth as to how close one is to an object or enemy, same goes for taking cover.
2.
being able to solo in Destiny is something I am really hoping for and here is why...
If Theres one thing I don´t like about games its being dependent on others in order to Progress the game. and also for me I find it annoying when you spend maybe 15-20 getting a team or Group together and you barely get started when one of them has to go eat dinner or walk the dog, I´m sure many in here has a similar experience, and then you finally beat whatever boss and then the bitching starts about how someone want the ring or shield and then someone just ninja´d it or if some item didn´t drop you have to find a new Group to help you out Again. now there´s other reasons why I dont play multiplayer so much, mostly because I´m also very social irl so when a friend or my kid calls and want me to come over or go to a pub (with my friends ofc not my kid ;) ) I dont want to ruin that Group I might have been in by leaving and having them troll me or others for that matter.
Now ofc I dont mind helping other players like in a co op style gameplay but this Whole dependt on others in order to get ahead in the game, to me that only limits the game. And I also tend to take breaks from various games so what happens when I need to do some quest in some dungeon and the area I´m in has become a more or less dead zone because everybody has not surprisingly moved on, then you miss out of being able to get the loot and finish the quest. I could go on but I´m really not that good at writing my mind I prefere to speak my mind. But I have no doubt that Destiny will be an amazing gaming experience for many gamers around the World. I´d just wish that we solo gamers though being more and more of a dying breed, didn´t allway get the short end of the stick..
Take care all you Warlock, Titans and Hunters out there :)

1: I get where you're coming from, as I too enjoy the 3rd person POV. However, this game is going to be an FPS. Nothing you can do about it. I don't know what you mean about the proximity to objects and cover though. I do better with it in FPS's than with the 3rd POV. If you need to get used to it, go play Halo*, or CoD*, or Battlefield*, or any other FPS* to get used to the perspective and all will be well.
*NOT saying Destiny will play or be like any of those games, just saying to use them as a way to get used to 1st person again.
Remember, in social areas, we will be in 3rd person, so you'll be able to see your guardian. In combat, it would give an edge to those who use it vs those who use 1st. You'll get used to it. 2: It has already been said by Bungie (the almighty) that you can solo the entire storyline, if you so choose, so I don't know why you're worried about it. Are you worried about it because it'll be an online game and require an internet connection to play? Or you just don't want to run into anyone when you do play? With as vast as this world is, and the way it's designed, I'm not so sure I would personally want to run the whole kit and kabootle all by my lonesome, even if I do prefer to solo as well. Don't stress over it. As I said, if you want to solo, have at it. It can be done.
