Dreaming of Loot

It's snowing here, so I thought I talk about some loot. I watched all the videos on the PSN store for Destiny, and they talked about loot for a brief second. Loot being earned is quite a satisfying moment in all games; my question is how will this game be different. Will this game be a loot driven game like borderlands? Eh I don't think so. I would love to see loot which not only makes your character look cool and powerful but has somewhat more substance to it. Perhaps if I find a pair of gloves maybe they make me reload faster. Boots that make me jump higher, run faster, give me abilities to evade, roll, dash, add stomp damage etc. Also the ability to be able to upgrade guns with different sights, flashlights, bullets, stocks, camo/paint would be really cool. Personalize everything. Perhaps the addition of a gunsmith NPC for people to upgrade their weapons, that's going to cost of course. Either currency or perhaps quest related items for the gunsmith in return for a new slot for your gun inventory or services along those lines. I also thought about how classes would be affected by different equipment. Class related equipment or anything goes. I choose anything goes, no character class related equipment because it's more unique and gives you more options. If there is a class related equipment scheme I would make it so if you have other equipment for other classes you could switch between classes with that equipment but would have to level that class from level one with the right equipment prerequisites, or level requirement. Who wants to play a class only to find out that they don't like that particular class. Well you could make another character or just change your class with armor that corresponds to that class. Simple and easy, and more options. Also gives you the ability to have different roles at different times. Then comes the question, where will I keep this vast amount of equipment Sell it, trade it, or use it for parts and scraps for other weapons, armor etc. I also thought to have a companion NPC to join you on your adventures if you go rogue. He/she would make a good storage person for your character so you can worry more about the task at hand. What if I get to much loot, would I be penalized as in running slower, or even forced to walk. These are just my ideas/imagination on how I picture Destiny to be. I have more of a role playing view of this game I like shooters but it's kind of repetitive genre. Well all games are somewhat repetitive because you can only do so much in a game. I hope Destiny grows and changes over the ten years to be a game that most game fans want to play again and not get bored. Adding new content, revolutionary new ideas, and addicting game play that changes from day to day. I like surprises and I hope Destiny delivers. *Thought of two new things the ability to lend weapons/armor to other players. My idea is it will cost them money to use your equipment for a hour or day or whatever time frame you decide to lend this equipment to someone. The longer you lend this item the more money you receive from this player. Now after the time frame you both decide on and the payment too. You lend this item to this player he can't lend the weapon to another player and after the time frame is up the weapon returns to your inventory. Same if the player tries the drop the item goes right back to your inventory. It sounds like a good idea everyone benefits and it's a way to help others out and make some money. My second idea is a skill I thought of called Augmented Vision...this skill allows you to look down your weapons sights and you get a closer view of an enemy farther away. This would be useful for someone who wants to take pop shots with an assault rifle and have higher hit rate/range and also a chance to get a head shot from a distance. Somewhat like a scope on a sniper rifle but it's your vision that increases the view down your gun's sights. Skills like seeing enemies through walls for a brief time perhaps later down the road on this idea of augmented vision.

  • Holy $h!t you wrote a lot. I didn't read it all but Bungie said that if you picked up something you didn't need then they are doing their job wrong. There are exotics that will give you cool perks like you were talking about but you can only have on equipped at a time. And it's all awesome.
