A wild boar, known throughout America as Hogzilla and once thought to be a myth, has finally been killed.
The giant beast was more than eight foot long and weighed more than 36 stone when it was shot by veteran hunter Jett Webb.
However experts believe the boar could weigh much more after the animal broke the scales when it was being assessed.
"It was very surreal,” said Jett.
“It was a shock. It was very humbling to say the least, when you walk up on a beast that big and you say, ‘Oh my gosh’.
“I had no idea that there could be something that big running around the woods of Eastern North Carolina."
Jett then revealed the secret to his hunting success.
“The sweet-tasting corn and a night-hunting light was too much for this oversized, heap of pork chops,” he added
A month ago Jett spotted the wild beast roaming and quickly realised that it was the same hog other members of the White Oak Ranch Hunting Club had been trying to capture for years.
He then hunted the animal for more than a month.
“We have pictures of him going back to 2011,” Michael Mansell, president of the North Carolina club said.
“He was a hard one to get on the ground for he moved around a great deal.
“These hogs are smart; we stay scent free, watch the wind and hunt from elevated stands.
“His head and shoulders were still on the skinning shed floor when we tried to weigh him.
“He was that big the scales couldn’t handle him.”
Jett managed to shoot the hog in the Indian Woods area of Bertie County from an elevated tree stand with a powerful AR-10 rifle from less than 100 yards away at the end of last month.
He now plans to make enough sausages with the meat to be able to feed his family for the rest of the year.
In North Carolina, feral pigs can be hunted all year round. Wild boar however are a non-native species and considered a threat to the environment and agricultural operations in the state.
How does it feel to be a wussy Non-North Carolinian who will never be able to kill a pig the size of a bear?

This disgusts me. Population control is often a tragic necessity due to us screwing up the planet, but it should never be glorified in the news like this. People need to be taught about environmental awareness, not to simply keep blundering through life carelessly because any problem can be solved with guns.

Lol. Americans are so stupid.

Oh those comments... so much butthurt over hunting.

Edited by DELIVER ME MEMES: 3/16/2014 5:05:51 PMtime to debunk dis. >no boar/pig gets that size unless it was farm bred and then escaped. it wasn't really a wild pig. he shot someone's escaped farm animal turned semi-feral. >there already was a hogzilla that turned out to be a hoax in the sense of being half the size of the photo. the trick is to dig a hole to stand in behind the pig and use perspective photography tricks and lighting. this isn't really hogzilla.

Edited by Psy: 3/16/2014 5:50:07 PM'Oh look a rare animal that is the size of most americans!' BETTER KILL IT LOL *sigh* Edit - Alright, I'm getting fairly tired of this. Yes there are valid reasons to shoot pigs, I've said time and time again that I don't like it but I don't oppose it. After I reply to Kernal, I'm going to ignore any more opinions people share because I'm getting sick of saying the same thing over and over again. One more time - I know there are valid reasons, I don't like them but I don't oppose it. I'm sure you all enjoy killing animals, so have at it.
NC Man Kills Over 500lb Giant Boar
I thought you meant he killed someone over the boar.
-
Obelix would've loved that boar!
-
Sorry that's a caged hog look at how small the tusk are for a 500 lb the tusk are weak. I've seen bigger on 250 lb . Here's the deal they catch the hog with dogs or a cage chop off the nuts . That stops the hog from humping and fighting and all it does eat and grow.
