You might have heard recently that Measles, after being eradicated in the US 14 years ago, has returned with cases reported in New York, San Diego, Boston, and Vancouver as well. Given that the efforts of anti-vaccination groups seem to be unfortunately paying off, do you think there should be an added incentive for parents to vaccinate their children? Specifically, if a child is not vaccinated, the parent or guardian should receive fewer, or be less-eligible for, state-sponsored benefits and services, such as welfare payments, schooling (such as exclusion from enrolment), child care, etc... with the exception of medical, and only medical, reasons.

Edited by Forever Berg: 3/16/2014 10:38:43 PMVACCINES SHOULD BE FORCED BECAUSE IT DOESN'T JUST AFFECT YOU If you don't get vaccines because you haven't gotten sick yet, just wait. For one, chicken pox boosters are given because adult chicken pox can be fatal, and getting chicken pox once doesn't make you immune. There are many diseases like this. Not only are you putting yourself at risk now and in the future as an elderly person, but you put others at risk. Your daughters that you don't vaccinate can contract preventable diseases while pregnant which will permanently affect their baby. You will be a walking carrier of many diseases and putting people with immunity weakening diseases like AIDS and leukemia in extreme danger just by being near them. Typhoid Mary's to a degree. VACCINES AREN'T RELEVANT TO ABORTIONS Vaccinations are preventing living people with personalities and massive importance in people's lives from being killed. It not only prevents the child from harm but those around them. Abortion is sad, yes. Abortion is also performed at an early stage where the only thing dying is a developing fetus. This is an irrelevant issue compared to vaccinations, no one else but the fetus is "in danger" here, and I'm not even saying I support abortion. And if you think that people should be forced into not having abortions, then why must you hold back on saying that people should be forced to have vaccinations. Look at my picture for a cost benefit of getting a vaccination, it's worth it. IT ISN'T A GOVERNMENT PLOY You're a -blam!-ing idiot if you think otherwise. It's the reason polio is no longer relevant, and polio was the AIDS/cancer of not too long ago. IT DOESN'T CAUSE AUTISM The doctor who claimed this was proven to be false and admitted to lying. He had his medical license revoked and suffered repercussions. You guys would have more validity using the Onion as your source. Cost-benefit is edited in now
