Star Wars VII takes place 30 years after "Return of the Jedi".

  • I would rather that they abandoned the Expanded Universe. Yes, thousands of hours of work and dedication have gone into it and thousands of people have devoted their time to learning and understanding it, but it's just so gigantic and such a mismatched cluster at this pint. I'm sure JJ Abrams and Disney want to tell a new story with new and old characters, one that would probably not fit into the already rooted lore. It has already been stated the EU is non-canon; it should not be a surprise to anyone if they don't follow it in the new movies.
