What is your take on the whole thing?
In case you didn't know, in the spirit of cancer awareness girls are nominating each other to post selfies of themselves with no makeup whilst the boys are nominating each other to post pics of themselves naked except for the crotch (obviously).
personally i don't really know why people do these things for 'raising awareness' - everyone who isn't living by themselves in a cave knows about cancer - or the connection with 'nakedness' (something to do with vulnerability perhaps?) but if it gets the charity a sudden influx of money (which it seems to have done) then i guess well done to them.

1 "LIKE" = 1 respect 1 "SHARE" = 10 respect IGNORE = SANTAN

I don't really understand the point behind the no makeup or the men being nearly naked, it just seems a weird way to promote cancer awareness. If someone understands how/why they're doing it, could you explain it to me?

I think everyone knows about cancer already. How about we spend more money on finding a cure, not awareness?
-
I was down on it yesterday but I was told this morning that one of the cancer charities managed to raise a cool million pounds in 24 hours. They think that it was due to this Facebook moment.

I don't l;ike it, it's pointless. My brothers girlfriend has gone crazy because of it thinking she has somebody who has died of breast cancer and that everybody should shut up, suddenly making the whole thing about her.

Edited by ToastyWaffles: 3/20/2014 6:12:39 PMAccording to facebook trends, women are doing "no make-up selfies" to raise cancer awareness, which is a bit more sensible than this.

I nominate @Onion Beetle

I have that problem with a lot of groups that are trying to raise awareness. If it's a new problem or something I just never heard of before, it's interesting for a while, but eventually I'm just sitting here going now what? There's no course of action. The absolute worst, IMO, are these ones on Facebook where people agree to post some random thing like the color of their bra all month to raise awareness. Posting a random color all month mostly just raises awareness of Crayola.

What's cancer? I'm not aware of that.
-
What does any of that have to do with cancer?
-
Oh great I was just nominated. No thnx but I get naked guys on my wall so it isn't all bad lel.

Yay slacktivism! It's pointless and stupid, while making people feel like they're actually helping.
