ARR: Final Fantasy XIV

Does anyone here have FFXIV? I just wanted to get a general opinion on how the game is, I was going to get when I got a stable income for the subscription fee. Also, is there a class for a simple Shield and Sword warrior?

I've heard the realm reborn is better than the old version. I'm not much into mmo's though so it's not really my thing.
