Warp drive theory
Be educated my children. I wanna hear yo thoughts, ideas, and opinions on this.
Do you think this will ever become a reality?
What are some other alternatives?

Edited by SexyPiranha: 4/5/2014 1:14:17 AMThe fact that it requires an exotic form of matter that we're not even sure exists would seem to throw a wrench in the works. There's also the problems of Hawking radiation possibly cooking everything within the bubble, what can only be described as an extremely devastating weapon of mass destruction possibly going off when the drive is turned off, possible causality violation(any device that allows one to transit faster than light would can also be used to create a closed time like curve), quantum gravitational effects possibly rendering your warp bubble unstable. I'm not going to say it's impossible but there's more trouble here than just a few engineering problems. On the bright side though, if matter that satisfies the negative energy density requirement exists we can use it to make a damn good space drive even if those other problems keep you from using it for ftl transit.
