(Got this source from the OXM's (Official Xbox Magazine) official Facebook page.)
The information came as part of a talk given by Frank Savage, Partner Development Lead at Microsoft on the Xbox One's use of Windows technology as part of the annual Microsoft Build Developer conference this week attended by Kotaku Australia. They report that during a Q&A session, an audience member asked if Microsoft had any plans to introduce Xbox 360 emulation to the new console.
Savage responded in the affirmative, although it still may be quite a while to go before we see it, saying "There are, but we're not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff. So there's nothing to announce, but I would love to see it myself."
So, they're definitely working on it, but it won't be for a while until it comes to the market, because it's hard to emulate the PowerPC architecture (which we knew already). This should have been a thing to begin with, but either way, I'm glad that Microsoft is finally working on it. With this news, I'm sure that Sony will start working on native PS3 emulation for the PS4 in order to compete with the Xbox One. If Microsoft comes out with Xbox 360 emulation before Sony can come out with PS3 emulation, those console sales numbers may very well get flip-flopped in no time. Who knows, I could be wrong, but this is very exciting news.

I have a great 360 emulator already its called the Xbox 360.
-
Microsoft would win a lot of people back if it gets this emulation out before Sony.
-
Oh please Microsoft! This would make my life complete!
-
Well I just sold my 360 and all its games -_-
-
I thought they were going to come out with a 360 add on for the XB1. One of the reasons I went with a PS4 is because xbox had no backwards compatibility, and if they did it would be a hardware addon. The start of the new gen has been a cluster -blam!-.
-
Terrible. They're just gonna try and make us buy games we already have. Waste of time and they may as well not bother as emulation always has problems anyway.
-
It better be able to emulate viva piñata
-
That's great news.
-
That is some exciting news. :-)
-
Sweet! So I suppose I won't sell my 360 games lol.
-
-
Viva la Phil Spencer!
-
This is great news depending on what games they allow you to play and how much it's going to cost.
-
Now people can get those games they were never able to play
-
Yay! Buy your 360 games again!!!! Jokes aside, this is a good thing.
-
F****ING FINALLY! this is fffaaaaaaaabulous! i got a library of 360 games i don't use any more since why use the 360 when the one does more, better?
-
Meanwhile wii u owners have full access to the flushzzxxx
-
I kinda hope it's digital only and not discs. Mainly because I just sold my 360 and all my games.
-
Sweet.
-
Hey it'd finally have some games. Seriously though, with 360 Live support turning to a close soon...I'm not sure how effective it could be. Sure you can play a lot of your old games again, but....alone.
-
I can't even name any Xbox 360 exclusive games I'd even want to play. Only one that comes to mind is Halo 3, since that was the only one to make any impact on me and I think I've played that enough for a lifetime to not have it be much of a point of returning to any Microsoft system. And I don't really care for Gears. Anybody know any that would recommend? I'm not too certain if this is even a system seller for me...
-
Good job MS. Hopefully you don't have it bundled in something like PS Now that costs money. I'm hoping saves can be transferred over from the 360's HDD to the X1 with that HDD transfer cable. And that the games doesn't have to be downloaded to the system.

I like it.

Edited by Crazy Llama: 4/7/2014 2:20:03 AMIt would definitely push me towards buying one sooner if they are able to implement it anytime soon.
-
Halo 3 on xbox one with working multiplayer? Sounds like a plan to me.
-
That would make me want to buy one sooner. I missed a lot of 360 games.
