Guardian tales : O`Brian Prologue: Beginnings

Prologue: beginnings I woke up, lying there out in the open, vulnerable as a box of puppies in the middle of a bustling roadway made only for people. I do not know what had happened, for me to be in such a state. Just I had begun to think of what has just happen, I fell excruciating pain all over. It was a jolting pain that put my entire body in pain. It wasn’t long until my body couldn’t handle the pain. After feeling the pain go away, I knew it didn’t go away. My body had only numbed the pain, but I could still feel little jolts in my body from time to time and figured the little movements in my body to be muscle spasms. My eyes were closed as all this had gone through my head. I did not have the strength to open my eyes. That was until I felt a comforting force on my body. As I lay on the ground, I then hear a voice calling out to me, a familiar one at that, but I could hear nothing. All I was able to hear were mumbles and muffled sounds. I was unable to make out anything from what I was supposed to hear. Only a ringing sound was apparent in my line of hearing. After a time, the ringing sound had begun to dissipate and hearing was now available and I found myself looking at what looked to be a guardian. She had her mask on her forehead to allow safe passage for tears. She looked beautiful. All I could gather from her was her beauty and her tears. I had yet to see her eyes for she was doing nothing but crying. As she was crying, she had been yelling for my name: “O’Brian! O`Brian! Don’t go…I still need you!” ,was what she had kept repeating during the time she had been holding me. I found myself to be on her lap. It was a familiar, soft feeling. “Wha-what happened?” I force out, even though I was in pain. “O- O`Brian!? You- you’re okay!” she responds as she tries to wipe the tears from her eye, in hope that I would notice. She continues, “O`Brian! We- were caught in a firefight with a large group of fallen. In the heat of battle, one of our teammates tried to use radiance to help us recover some stamina. But at that same time, a Fallen's grenade had made its way at our teammate`s position. I saw that you tried to save him, but it was no use.” That’s right. I remember now. Memories began to recollect when she mentioned about our fallen guardian. I remember trying to save him, but it was at that moment the grenade went off, instantly killing the guardian, but and sending me flying. I then hit the ground with a large amount of force. It was then that I had black out. I started, “what happened to the rest?” “Around the time the grenade was set off, there were about 10 fallen left. I did my best to make quick work of them. But after seeing you get hit by the grenade, I thought you were done for. I was afraid that it would have been the end and it got me scared. I was slow at first, but managed finish them off. After I stopped the fallen, I looked for you and found you in a clearing 30 feet from the actual firefight…”, she responded with a crack voice. I could see the worry in her eyes. I then tasted blood, or what seemed to be my own. As I felt around my head I felt a sharp pain around the top of my head, and in the back of my head as well. The blood had first gone down the front of my face. I looked up again to see the beauty that held me in such comfort. She began to say: “Don’t worry O’Brian, it`ll be okay. I already called for a ride out of here. The FOTC should be here in a few seconds. I could hear it coming. You should rest for now.” I understood what she was saying, or well, most of what she was saying. I could hear what sounded to be a ship. It screamed as it was doing its best to hover and pick us up. One other guardian came to help this woman carry me aboard the ship. As we were aboard the ship and safely seated, I could feel her gracefully brushing her hand across my hair softly and on my face. I still looked at her, and it puzzled me. I did my best to form a sentence, in my condition. I looked at her in the eye and slowly muttered words that put an extreme look of fear in her eye. “Who…are you?” Feedback and comments would be appreciated. tell me what you guys think of it so far.
