Should you get a lot of loot per kill and have most of them be weak with a low chance of rare gun like in borderlands or have more rare loot drops that drops less of it but is usually very powerful when you do get a drop?

I don't think we should get exotic weapons with random drops for a variety of reasons that I've elaborated on fully in a different [url=http://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny39s-Design-Exotic-Exclusivity/en/Forum/Post?id=64293430]thread[/url] of mine, but to sum it up, random drops only serve to lengthen out the exotic acqusition process, sometimes frustratingly so for players who want to earn a certain exotic. I believe it's better to gate exotics behind appropriately challenging tasks that will for sure award an exotic upon completion, that way players can measure how close they are to obtaining their goal and it removes a lot of the frustrating uncertainty that comes with random drops. On the other hand, random drops work out fine for non-exotics, especially since there's likely going to be much more of those than there are exotics. Helps to create a non-deterministic experience, surprise, variety, all of that jazz. But as soon as the novelty of being suprised with something new is overshadowed with the frustration associated with acquiring a certain item? Better to cut it off and gate it behind a proper challenge so that earning the exotic feels more like an achievement than dumb luck :)
