But you find out that your guys' child will be mentally challenged and you would have to take care of him or her for the rest of your life. Would you keep the child knowing this or would you get an abortion? Also don't just say its up to her just assume she would go with whatever you choose.
-
Id be more concerned with how my wife got pregnant since the whole snip snip business.
-
Absolutely keep the child. It is absolutely disgusting that there are 46 votes for abortion.
-
Put it up for adoption.
-
Everyone would be better off if we went with the abortion.
-
I have a wife? Breaking News, I'm -blam!-ing gay.

Edited by Porsche 914: 4/24/2014 1:02:08 AMSince I haven't received an answer I'll repost
How mentally handicapped?

. Does "take care" mean that they will be child like their entire life? Or does "take care" mean that they're high functioning, but will never be able to be on their own?
-
Abortions are just horrible.
-
I have a wife?
-
I WOULD KEEP IT. I WOULDNT TAKE THE COWARDS WAY.
-
Abortion. It'd be better for us and the child, and we could always make another.
-
I clicked abortion before I even read the part where you said the child would be defective.
-
OP should have been aborted.

I honestly would have an abortion. The amount of help they need is outrageous along with the financial aspect. If I do get a kid who will be mentally challenged, I have a friend who aims to be special needs teacher, so I can count on her to help me and my wife.
-
I'd want her to get an abortion regardless of whether the child would be healthy or not. In fact, if she wouldn't take the pill, this would be me.[/edge] But srsly I do hate kids and would want an abortion regardless of mental health.
-
No she isn't. I don't even have a wife . This thread is so dumb.
-
Well... I'd already be a shitty parent to a normal kid, so who knows how bad I'd -blam!- up raising a special needs kid. In the child's best interest, I'd probably say to terminate.
-
Have the child, I will be making huge amounts of money once I'm out of college, I will have the monies to get them therapy and create the next Stephen Hawking. That being said, I am likely to genetically tailor my children, providing my wife is comfortable with the idea. (no major alterations, just a guarantee of healthy genes)

If I was able to take care of it, and it didn't have any serious conditions, keep it. If I wasn't able to take care of it, give it to adoption. If it had a serious mental condition, such as autism, abort it.
-
Depends on how soon we found out. I wouldn't be able to live with myself watching my child struggle day to day or, even worse, be unable to realize how different they were and fight to fit in. That is cruelty.
-
Abortion Best for both the kid and us
-
Aborted.
-
Depends on how soon I'd find out.

How mentally handicapped?
