It was transporting some German reinforcements/replacements to the front during Operation Blue (The German drive to the Caucauses and of course until their ruin at Stalingrad), and apparently might have gotten lost during a storm and crashed into the black sea. It now sits at the bottom of the Black Sea outside of Odessa, one day they plan on recovering it as it is actually almost perfectly preserved.
