Muh new kitten Mordred, AMA

I just adopted a new kitten yesterday. I didn't get much time with him yesterday because I had to go to work immediately after we got back from the shelter, but he was still awake when I got back (around 1:30 am). He's two months old and he's supposedly litter box trained but he just decided to piss all over my jacket when the litter box is right next to it. He avoids the litter box like it's the plague. Anyways, AMA. Or help me on his pissing habits please.

Looks JUST like my cat did when it was younger. And 2 months old is very young for litter box trained. So I wouldn't be surprised if they lied. Every 40 minutes or so, put the kitten in the litter box. Physically drop her in there. If she gets out, put her back. Do that several times hoping she will pee. Even if she pees once in the litter box, that doesn't mean you have succeeded. Do that for several weeks, until she constantly goes to the litter box to use the bathroom herself. Does she sleep in a cage at night right now, since she is so young?

As for sleeping habits, don't confine the cat to a small area. You want it to be comfortable so it reacts well. A box is good as a bed. Cats like confined areas, on their own terms. He'll feel safe in a box. Keep the litter tray in the same room as well, to form the idea that the room is his home. Just try to leave the bed in one specific room for now. Preferably not the kitchen, you don't want him going after any food in the night. Eating wise, get a type of cat food and stick to it. Mix it in gradually with what you're currently feeding him. What'll probably happen later on is he'll get spoiled and think if he waits long enough and doesn't touch his own food, you'll give him the good stuff. Don't fall for it. If he's hungry, he'll eat what's in his bowl. You don't want him unhealthy/fat. I'm not too sure on the drink situation for a kitten. I give my cat a water with a bit of milk mixed in, so it looks like pure milk. Oh!
Dogs > Cats
• Why didn't you listen to me? Cats are dumb. They can't play fetch and they poop in a sandbox.
