3 RepliesI think the US would have been divided into two separate countries; Confederate States and United States. I suppose that legal slavery in the US would not exist, but in the Confederate states it might be. From that point on history would be altered and there would be no saying if the UN or NATO would be founded so..

Slavery was on the decline, even in the south, I think they'd eventually stop. I don't think the south liked being told what to do. Besides most civilized countries stopped slavery by then, so it probably made America look bad.

1 Reply1. The civil war wasn't just about slavery It was about state rights and freedom. The north wouldn't let the south trade with anyone else except the north and then put a heavy tax on them. The large central gov. favored the north and was against the south.

3 RepliesWithout a doubt, no. By the time we got rid of slavery, if im not mistaken, we were one of the last countries left with it. So eventually pressure from other countries would us cause us to get rid of it.
