Was it the pimp ass weekly updates? If so, who was the author of those when you started? Frankie, Lukems, Urk, Deej, ect.
Was it the forums? Who do you remember? I'm talking some legit long term member...like Obi Wan Stevobi, Impurity, BerserkerBarage (BB), or Anton P Nym?
Do you remember some groups that were the foundation of what groups are now? Marty's Army? Bungie Jumpers? The Frozen Minority? Thee Warriors?

Frankie always kept me coming back, even before I was a member with his weekly updates, those were some good times. I kinda stopped showin up for a period when deej first took over and after Halo ODST for a bit. I never hung out on the forums too much, only occasional posts here and there.
