Why do so many devout religious people hate gays so much? We know for a fact gays exist. We don't know God exists for sure. So you want to deny them rights in the off chance that he might get mad? What if he does exist, and he sent them to fix overpopulation? They say god could be any of us. What if he was born gay?
Why do they call it unnatural, when they accept a book "written thousands of years ago" in which a TALKING SNAKE tempts people with an apple to commit sin? Where a burning bush talks to a man? Where one man can walk on water, heal the blind, feed thousands with just a basket of food, and rise from the dead? What part of that is natural? You can say he did it because he was the son of God. Still doesn't make it any more natural. But you weren't there, you can't prove any of that is real. You can prove that gay people exist though. There's too much hatred out there. I'm not hating on religious people, I'm hating on the ones who hate gays. Or rather, I'm hating on their hatred for gays. Stop thinking it's them versus us. It's just us, my friends.
Edit:underlined and bolded an original part of my post for a few religious people who seem to think I am lumping everyone together
To reiterate the bold and underlined: I am not lumping all religious people together. I am merely stating an observation that most people who are homophobic are religious. I am well aware that there are religious people who are not homophobic and even like gay people
Also, who the hell necrobumped this?!

WHO THE -blam!- CARES ABOUT SEXUAL PREFERENCE?!!! WERE ALL HUMAN AND SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY AMONG EVERYONE NO MATTER WHAT RACE, RELIGION, MENTAL DISABILITY, OR SEXUAL PREFERENCE AND -blam!- WHAT THE BIBLE HAS TO SAY, WOULD YOU BELIVE IN SOMETHING EVEN THOUGH IT'S WRONG?!! RISE ABOVE SO WE CAN RISE AS ONE. AS A EQUAL COMMUNITY.

Edited by Fat Man 3000: 5/21/2014 4:39:57 PMOk, you've got alot of religious people against Gay's marrying because it's in the bible. Now, where are those same religious people against Divorce? Jesus was against it, so where's the outcry to get Divorce banned?
-
This is very sad. We as Christians should be showing love toward gays even if we don't agree with them. Yes it is clearly a sin in the bible but that doesn't mean we cannot show love. We can try to turn them in a loving manner, without forcing, away from it.
-
I don't hate them. However, what they are doing is a sin and is wrong, and they know it. The thing that i hate, is how the world tries to accept them and say thats it ok to do and that us straight people need to "SPREAD LOVE". Thats what I hate. People know that it's wrong, but are cowards and don't have enough character to stand up and say that those people are ridiculous. They chose to be like that. Gays say that they are born that way. NO! Men are born to be attracted to females, and Females attracted to males. They choose what they do and how they act. What they say they feel, comes from a life of sin, and disrespect for God's authority.

A study amongst homophobic men showed that they were more likely to become aroused when viewing homosexual acts than those who are not homophobic.
-
As a christian I hate sin (including gay sx) but I love gay people, their sin is equal to my sin and everyone elses sin. So why should I hate them when a) it would be hypocritical because I sin too, and b) Jesus called us to love people and to spread a message of grace, not of condemnation.

For some reason many Christians think the God hates gays. It's not true at all. I'm a very devout Christian and I don't hate gays. I think homosexuality is wrong, but I don't hate gay people. For instance, if I see two men kissing, yes I think it's disgusting and unnatural. Do I hate the two men? No. God loves reach and every one of us regardless if we're gay, thieves, adulterous, or murderous. The bible says if a man lies with another man that they have committed an abomination. An abomination is a vile or detestable act. In other words, a sin. This does not mean to hate gays at all. God doesn't hate gays at all. Many people think that this means to hate gay people though, which reflects a bad image upon us Christians. We do not hate gay people.
-
Only Islam hates gays.
-
Im a devout christian and i now plenty other devout christians that don't hate gays and i now a few devout christians that are gay jeez its just a stereotype like all blacks are gangbangers or that all asians have small wangers
-
I'm Catholic and we don't think there's anything wrong with gay people. They're just gay. That's it.
-
Any religious person who hates on other people for a reason as simple as their sexuality is failing at their religion. Assuming all religions goal is to be 'good'. A 'good' person shouldn't make others feel bad. End of. Or you're an butt as well as a moron.
-
Gay people are gay and I don't like it.
-
Talking snakes and burning bushes are more natural than two men going at it

Just because you don't support homosexuality doesn't mean you hate them or are homophobic. When people from the church hand out sleeping bags and sandwiches to street people do you think they ask their sexual preference? When's the last time you got off your ass and did something like that? If never stfu hypocrite.

You know, not once in one of these threads has topic of other religions views on gays been mentioned. Anyone care to elaborate?

Edited by Morgan Freeman: 5/21/2014 2:38:50 PMJudaism condemned homosexuality because the Jewish people were an actual tribal population. The best way to grow and thus be able to better defend themselves from other tribes was to make sex solely about procreation. Since gay sex doesn't lead to procreation it was forbidden. Christianity basically took the Torah and called it the Old Testament. There's no direct mention of homosexuality in the New Testament, let alone a condemnation of it. And Christianity is based upon the New Testament. Christians that "hate" gays are ignorant of their own religion, and therefore not worth listening to.

Says so many religions; only lists Christians
-
Not all religious people are assholes. But all assholes might be religious. I don't think so. I'm not religious. But i'm an asshole. Gay people can do what they want.
-
No most religious people are not homophobic. Just like most feminists are Anita Sarkeseon like. The crazy ones are always the loudest
