Not a whole lot of news here, just an interesting photo of the destroyer in three stages of development. They look pretty similar to US destroyers, using a single ship gun, powerful air-search radars (not as good as our AEGIS or SPY-1 radars, though), VLS tubes, and a CIWS setup. Still, good on China for taking it up to defend their borders.

Ala put on as many missiles as possible to overwhelm fleet defenses. China appears to be taking the US route of fleet doctrine, which is strange since they only have one aircraft carrier. I suppose they can get away with it because some of there neighbors like Vietnam for example lack a sophisticated navy so it is more than enough, I doubt they think they can engage us or Japan conventionally with these.
