Custimization: What would you like to see?
Like many of you, I enjoy character customization. As a lad, one of my favorite games was The Red Baron on DOS. Playing as a career pilot during WWI, you eventually gained the privilege to paint your plane. Your choices were not extensive, but I became far more invested in my character when I could take part in imagining my enemies knowing who they were fighting because of the color of my rig. Games are at their best when they elicit immersion from the player, and customization plays a significant role in that.
When Destiny finally arrives, I would like to see customization on an entirely new level. I think that the fighter planes of both World Wars would be a great reference for customizing our ships. It would be thrilling to see them emblazoned with the unique symbols of our respective clans and more. Of course, the same could be said of our character's armor. But what about customization of fire teams? Why not have each fire team member wield a banner of sorts like the samurai of old, fully realized and interactive to the physics of the game? Small touches like these would only help to immerse me fully in the world of Destiny. What kind of customization would you like to see?

3 RepliesI just don't want limitations on the armor color customization. [i]I am a bad ass hunter studded with the bones of my defeated enemies with black robes and silver armor. I finally completed the raid and as I receive my exotic bracers . . . . they are pink . . . . WHAT IS THIS SHIT?[/i] I also hope there is some color customization with the gun modifications. I don't want a yellow sight on my Red Death.

1 ReplyYou should check out this video from GDC if you haven't already. Art lead Scott Shepherd gives much information on character creation. It seems to be a very ambitious customization system. He talks about the dye system and how they want to be able to customize colors and accent colors, gradients, shininess, etc. I think there was also mention of a decal system. Can't wait to try it out in beta!

3 RepliesI already think the customization is on a different level. Every piece of equipment you have will have slots you can put "bits" into to upgrade stats and change the look, down to the straps. And that's not just for armor, helmets and the like, but for your sparrow and space ships too. And I believe the cloak for the hunter, armband for the Titan, and sash thing for the warlock is the equivalence to what you want as banners.

1 ReplyThe ability to buy Dye from vendors in the city. For example being able to get the best armour in game and still being able to stand out from others with the same gear. I've always had my MMO characters in Green/Yellow with black undertones and would love to see this in endgame (if it's not already a feature).
