You didn't miss much. It's pretty much every generic "You are the only hero that can save us from the darkness" cliche wrapped up into one. Which is funny because it falls into the mmo trap of "everyone is the only one who can save the universe" and you'd think Bungie would know to avoid this by now from every other failed mmo story.
