After being captured by the IsoDidact aboard Installation 07, he was placed in a Forerunner time lock.
While interrogating the Primordial, the IsoDidact, in a fit of rage, accelerated the time in the time lock by billions of years. The Primordial died from disintegration/old age as a result.

Hmm. I need to reread that book. The Primordial is one of my favorite characters.
