• Read at your own risk I wrote a good essay in this lmao
kay so the alpha bled into this morning before it shut down. And I had fun the whole time even though they ain't really give us much to do. The one thing I have to say stood out the most was the slight sense of wonder I had when I explored (even areas I already combed) and the extreme excitement that came when something knew popped up. Example (albeit a kinda of long but simple one): you could make it to and walk through the old Russian wall from the last years e3 gameplay. I was instantly excited then immediately disappointed. They took out 90% of the enemies for the alpha build, even the big fallen boss (or so I thought). I explored anyway, danced and posed for a few breathtaking shots in random places. Some inside the wall and some out. Walked back through and still 90% of the enemies are gone including my favorite guy the boss. That was my first day, didn't end up back in the wall till this morning. There are random really small quests scattered around in free roam, and one instructed me to clear a group a fallen out of the wall. I go it's the same group I fought before and still no boss. I quickly kill them with a fist of havoc jump and wait for my quest rewards. The quest progress stays at zero. I look at my motion tracker and there's something behind me, so I just think I missed a dreg or vandal. To my amazement there is a 10 foot tall, deep voiced very menacing fallen jumping out a pipe. I think to myself "UNICORNS ARE REAL!!!". My first reaction like every new thing I come across in a bungie game, a habit destiny only deepened.... punch it NOW. I do. It acts like we are playing bloody knuckle and punches me back. I'm sent across the room with little to no health, and like he's shooting a skeet disc he kills me in mid air with one shot. I smiled, mashed square to revive as soon as possible and charged back in. Managed to kill him after a heated 1v1 firefight. He even dropped a blue engram (unidentified loot and blue is I would say rare while green is uncommon) that I couldn't even use since blue engrams were all level 12 and up. I talked to everyone that I know played the alpha and I'm the only one that fought him that I know of. The sense of adventure, excitement and wonder/curiosity is what made destiny (alpha) amazing for me.
