Just 17 days to go until the next DOOM game is revealed at Quakecon 2014. This thread is for people to discuss what they are excited to see in the DOOM game of this decade.

Some background info:
- The last DOOM game (Doom 3) was released in 2004. Since then, DOOM 4 became something like a HL3 equivalent. There was no tangible information about it for over 10 years. At E3 2014 however, the silence was broken, and a teaser was released. Until then, the biggest DOOM news came at the end of a Wolfenstein: The New Order trailer called 'Boom Boom'. The text at the end reads - "Preorder for access to the DOOM Beta." This caught people off guard, imagine if a similar message appeared at the end of a Valve trailer, telling you that there will be a Half-Life 3 Beta soon! People couldn't beleive it.
- The new DOOM was in development for a while. Its previous version was scrapped and the team had to pretty much restart from scratch. You can check out the leaked screenshots and production images of the scrapped version of Doom 4 here: http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/2012/02/29/doom-4-images-leaked/
- Starting from early 2012 through to late 2013, id Software's technical director (and the last remaining founder of id Software) was heavily involved with working on virtual reality. He provided his own prototype to then a very small group 'Oculus'. Oculus was very interrested in working with John and in late 2013 hired him. Mr Carmack now had two jobs. John Carmack is known for being an innovator. It was obvious that he wanted this new DOOM to support VR tech. This two-job deal only lasted a few months and at the end of 2013, he left id Software and joined Oculus as a full time job. A lot of other id Software employees (most notably Matt Hooper) left id along with John to work for Oculus.

If you have not seen the E3 DOOM teaser, I suggest you check it out now. After that, come back and discuss it here. Also don't forget the official DOOM forums at: http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/104-doom/
19 days UPDATE:
Have you noticed any similarities between the Cyberdemon of the teaser and some of the monsters that appeared in the movie 'Pacific Rim'? That can be easily explained. For you see, the artist who worked on the movie (Hugo Martin) is also working on the new DOOM game!
Fun-fact: If you try visiting id Softwares website (http://www.idsoftware.com), you will be redirected to doom.com; I wonder if id Software's website will be back? Originally, doom.com would redirect you to idsoftware.com
18 days UPDATE:
The new DOOM game will not be a sequel or a prequel. It will tell a stand alone story within the Doom universe. There is a possibility of SOME interconnections to the previous Doom games however. The teaser is very short but one thing is clear, the United Aerospace Corporation (UAC) was working on creating cyborgs. Either they had no idea that they were working on demons, or the demons found a way to fuse with the UAC tech - we can see that the Cyber Demon has a portable fusion reactor and a massive hand cannon fused into him. The story is being written by Graha Joyce who wrote numerous award winning novels.
17 days UPDATE:
With the last founding member of id Software gone, the most seasoned member of the team is probably Tim Willits. Tim joined id back in the Quake 2 days. Has been one of the core members since then. His main role with id was level design, I wonder what sort of role he plays in the development of this new Doom game.
