Nope, not at all. PC gaming can be quite pricey. Personally, I find it much easier on the wallet to upgrade only the necessities when they no longer function at mid level. Eg. 3DFX went out of business in 2001. I had bought their best card the year before. I finally upgraded my card in 2006, and just replaced those at the end of last year. Total investment in my gaming rig (counting initial investment) is somewhere around $3200. Not bad for a 14 year old case. Now, that is also including gaming peripherals (Nostromo, Razor mouse, gaming keyboard, and 3 monitors over the years), which again, isn't that bad. In that same timeframe, I bought a PS2, PS3, 2 XBs, 2 XB 360s, Game Cube, Wii, 3 additional controllers for each, not to mention a few headsets, charging stations, etc. If I were to add it up, I would suspect I've spent about the same if not more on the consoles. And I still have more games on PC which I spent less on overall (who doesn't love a good Steam sale ^_^). In the long run, you can really end up spending less by keeping it simple. Buy good parts up front (initial investment can be quite high on this one), and they can last you much longer than the console generations. Now, you'll be replacing things occasionally, but it'll be rare (if ever) that you have to start completely from scratch. I appreciate the candor. I'm not trying to come off as an ass or elitist, as I'm an all around gamer (I play on console much more now than I used to, and in some rare cases enjoy it more), so I like decent discussion.
