Oh no no I said peripherals. The monitor, speaker, cables, mouse, keyboard, etc. It's a pretty safe assumption that everyone has a monitor or tv lying around so PC and console are tied there, but you can spend quite a bit on a decent set of speakers/keyboard/mouse in comparison to the controller that comes with the console. If you went with good, but not great, peripherals then I'd expect that to be a $150 investment in addition to the $600 rig.

I have a gaming computer and i don't use a mouse or keyboard or have speakers i hook up a wired 360 controller and use the same turtle beaches i do for 360 i use a mouse and keyboard from walmart

If you were going to give a dollar amount for everything from scratch you'd still have to buy a controller, mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, etc. So if you were starting PC from scratch you'd still need an additional $200+ in Walmart grade peripherals to get set up. You could easily spend an additional $600 if you wanted quality peripherals. Whereas if you started gaming from scratch on a PS4 the only thing you'd need to provide that wasn't in the box is Ethernet and a TV. Again I'm not really arguing PRO or CON PC/Console gaming. One you pay [b]far[/b] more on a 1:1 basis, but you can get far more out of it. The other you pay less and get less graphically in exchange for accessibility and ease of use. It's not an argument; it just is.

Yeah but that guy built a gaming pc for $550 because he already had some of the things he needed i don't understand how what you said matches up to that

Read the rest of his conversation with me. He has spent over $3000 on his gaming rig total and was recently able to upgrade it to 4k resolution quality with $550. That's quite a different starting point than starting from scratch/out of box.

Well he could have been completely redoing it over and over again which is stupid and a waste of money. That is the only reason i could see him spending $3550 and if so then it is his own fault

Not stupid at all. From what Rex said he has had the same rig for 14 years and has been keeping it current and it can do 4k resolution gaming. Being on the cutting edge of graphics costs real money, and if he has been able to do it for a decade and a half, thenI'd say that's a pretty fair investment. It means he's had HD and 60fps when console gamers were playing in standard definition on tube TVs.

Yeah. 3k upfront would be a [b]HUGE[/b] investment. But over 14years that's only $200 a year. Which honestly sounds about right if you're upgrading yearly to stay above average. This is where the beauty of a console comes in because I pay $400 now and am good for 8 years.
