It's been remade before...sort of. Hemorrhage's terrain is lifted from Coag, while the bases are Blood Gulch's. But yes, this is the first time it's been properly remade.

I think he means Blood Gulch in CE to Coagulation in H2 to finally Hemorrhage in Reach.
