What dies it mean by directors cut? Stuff for forge? A (please no) limited edition?

That's actually a good question... I don't think so. The SMG fills that role. I'd guess the MA5C or MA5D.

yeah. it was something the dev team originally wanted to add but couldn't.

you sure about that? i'm sure they weren't really trying to add ricochet and speed boost back in 04. that sounds awfully convenient to tie into halo 4

not ricochet, that's not listed under the director's cut additions. speed boost is, however. is it really that hard to believe that they'd want to add speed boost in an arena shooter?

Did they elaborate on modernizations? Was that stuff like fixing the ramp on ascension and putting a carbine down?

putting the carbine down is part of "lacked mid-range weapon choices," i assume i think the ramp on ascension is part of modernizationing-ishness, yes.
