Remember how you used Grass Knot on my Gastrodon? If you had 31 IVs in Sp. Attack and Protean, you could have EASILY done 85-100% damage compared to the 45% that you did without them. That's how important IVs are.

I was only asking because I'm breeding a ralts in white 2 because that's the only way gardevior can get hyper voice. I don't have a good way to ensure I get good IVs in this game. Also for a mega gardevior with most likely poor IVs, should I go for timid nature or modest?

I run Timid, but I've seen people argue for Modest. What I would do is go to the OU chatroom on pokemonshowdown.com and see what the majority says.
