They weren't behind the walls they were outside infront of it patrolling keeping the people safe the hunters only went out there's getting treasures not looking for fights they probably avoided any encounter they could unless it directly interfered with their loot cowards

Real treasure, like supplies to keep the city alive? All chest-pounding aside. I think the lore here is incredible, and the Titans played a huge role in it. I'll probably play a Titan, but Hunters will feel more natural to me for playing. :)
